THE POWER OF THE DEATH OF JESUS
Heb.2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
One will know how powerful the death of Jesus is, if one takes a look at what His death brings to the lives of those who agree that His death was for them. Through this, one also see what great things those who reject Him are depriving themselves of.
The following are some of the products of His death.
- Atonement; Rom.5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
The animals the O.T. people sacrificed all the time were not able to remove sin (Heb.10:4). That was why they needed to do it year after year (Heb.10:1-39). But the death of Jesus atone for our sins once and for all.
Rom.5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Mt.26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Col.1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Col.1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Heb.9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Heb.10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
2 Substitution.

Rom.3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom.5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Through His death, Christ took our place as sinners and paid the price of sin that would have cost us eternity of sorrow.
- The Gospel Rom.1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The gospel is the story of Christ: his birth, life, works, death, burial, resurrection, ascension etc. If Jesus did not die, there would have been no gospel to preach. And the gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Rom.1:16). - Deliverance From Sin
Mt.1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Sin is the most powerful enemy of man. When Jesus died on the cross, He conquered sin for us and made provision for our total deliverance. Through the death of Jesus, we now have power to live above sin (I Jh.1:9; 3:9).
- Forgiveness Of Sin
Eph.1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
The death of Jesus did not only bring ability to live above sin; it also brings forgiveness for all the sins of the past.
- Justification Rom.5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom.5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Today, we are not only forgiven our sins, but we
are also justified through his death. By this we stand in the sight of God as if we have never committed a sin.
- Reconciliation With God.
As sinners, we were enemies of God with whom he was always angry but today; through his death we are reconciled with God. We are now friends of God:
Eph.2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Col.1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

We have His promise in Mk.16:16-17.
Mk 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
This promise was given after He had died on the cross for us.
- Sonship
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: We were formerly slaves of Satan, but today through the death of Jesus we have become children of God. - Sanctification
Heb.13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Through the death of Jesus provision is make for the purification not only of our outer lives but our inner man also.
- Access To The Throne Of Grace Ephes. 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Even the nation of Israel that was specially beloved of God, in the O. T. time; were only able to approach God after serious preparations has been made. But today through the death of Jesus we can knock at the door of heaven anytime and ask whatever we need.
- A Lot Of Wonderful Things In Heaven
1 Cor. 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Nothing in this world is as good as the wonderful things that are waiting for the people of God in heaven. They are all made available through the death of Jesus.
- Exclusion From Hell Fire & Inclusion In Eternity Of Peace And Blessedness.
We that would have ended our journey in hell fire because of our sins are now going to live in the paradise of God forever because we accept the provision of the death of Christ.
Rev.7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
