The Difficulty In Understanding These Two Wars– 210TH Interdenominational Weekly Bible Study For Church Leaders

By Damilola Adesina Omosebi

SO MYSTERIOUS!

The program today started with the report of Award of the Doctorate degree on the Facilitator Pastor Z A Ogunsanya by UN-POLAC on 29th April, 2022. The coordinator informed attendees that due to public demand the presentation of the certificate and attendees citations on the Facilitator have been shifted to a latter day that will be announced next week Monday.

TOPIC OF THE DAY

THE DIFFICULTY IN UNDERSTANDING THESE TWO WARS.

2Pt.3:16; Eph. 4:11-14; Deut. 29:29.

With the truth presented in the above scriptures at the back of our minds, none of us should be surprised that some scriptures are not easy to understand.

God never promised that all will be easy to understand.

Nevertheless, we are told that we need them all and therefore, need to endeavour to understand them. Mt. 4:4; 2 Tim.2:15.

Scarcely is there any other Bible revelation that is as difficult to explain as the first war of Gog and Magog of Ezekiel 38 and 39.

The Facilitator Pastor Z A Ogunsanya read a quote taken from the internet site of ” Friends of Israel” (foi.com) where commentators propose a number of options regarding timing of the invasion.

This includes:

• Just prior to the Rapture of the church and onset of the seven-year Tribulation.

• Though the first idea here suggesting that the War of Gog and Magog could be ” just prior to the Rapture of the church and onset of the seven-year Tribulation” looks closer to what is likely, than the rest ideas.

• Between the Rapture and the Tribulation.

This second idea also looks probable just like the first idea. But the problem with both of them is that, what happens to Gog ( the leader of the war of Gog and Magog and his army during the 7 years that the antichrist will be in control, before he (Gog) will be defeated and he will die, during the war of Armageddon? Because Eze. 39:17-20; Rev. 19:17-18,21 makes the two wars (Gog and Magog and Armageddon) to end the same way and at the same time as one war.
Now, if as a result of these verses we conclude that the same person (Gog, who will lead the war of Gog and Magog) is also the the antichrist (who will lead the war of Armageddon), as Dake’s Bible and some other scholars claim, how come that he as Gog would die and be buried (Eze. 39:11), and at the same time as the antichrist, would be arrested and thrown alive into the lake of fire Rev. 19:20?

• Around the middle of the Tribulation.

The third idea that it could be “Around the middle of the Tribulation” also can not be correct. Because, the war is to start when Israel would be living in peace. Eze. 38:8, 11, 14.

How can Israel be said to be living in peace in the world, at the time all the calamities the book of Revelation predicted would be befalling the whole world, from the beginning of the 7 years great tribulation tribulation. Rev.6-9? 6:1-17.

Now, how can Israel be living in peace while these calamities will be happening all over the world? Also, as it is clear from the last point that Gog is not going to be the Antichrist, how will he (Gog) be able to gather a separate army from all the places mentioned in Eze.38 to invade Israel, while the antichrist will be in control of the world and would have made a treaty of 7 years with Israel.

• Just prior to the Second coming of Jesus Christ.

The problem with the fourth idea that the war of Gog and Magog could be “Just prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ” is that, there is no how any group of people could wage a separate war against Israel at that time, apart from the one being waged by the antichrist. And we have proved that there was no how Gog could be the antichrist.

• Between the Second Coming and the commencement of the Millennium.

The fifth idea suggests that the war of Gog and Magog could be “Between the Second Coming and the commencement of the Millennium”.

The question is: How could anybody be able to gather army and wage war against Israel at that time that Jesus will be Judging all the nations of the world as we were told in Mt 25:31,32?

Or will Jesus wait for him to do that before He will start to judge the world? Mt. 25:31-32.

Here we closed for the day!
