Weekly Manna: The Preciousness Of The Death Of Jesus.

THE PRECIOUSNESS OF THE DEATH OF JESUS
The attitudes of people during the Easter periods often show that not too many people understand the main reason why Jesus died. Jesus did not die just because the Jews were wicked or because the Romans were powerful. He did not die because He could not rescue himself from the hands of His enemies. He was not forced to die (Jh.10:17-18). He died because He loves man.

  1. Jesus died to fulfil the promise of God to man.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
  2. He died to show that God really loves man and that there is nothing God cannot do to help man.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
  3. He died to take away our sins.
Jh.1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Mt. 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
  4. He died so as to use His blood to wash us and make us clean.
Heb.13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Heb. 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
  5. He died so that we may not perish.
Jh.11:49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; 52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
  6. He died so that we may have eternal life.
Jh. 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  7. Had Jesus not died there would have been no salvation for any man and hell fire would have been the eternal home of everyone of us.
Lk. 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts. 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
    THE RESULTS OF HIS DEATH
The results of the death of Jesus are more than wonderful. It is the secret of every thing good we are enjoying from God today:-
  8. It shows that the love of God for us is not artificial or hypocritical.
Rom.5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  9. It shows that God is a faithful God for He fulfilled His promise to man. Gen.3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  10. It saves us from eternal punishment, for He took our position as criminals.
Jh.10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Tit. 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Rom.5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
  11. It creates a way for us to be able to go to God by making an atonement for our sins.
1 Jh. 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Ephes. 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Heb.10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
  12. It makes a reconciliation between us and God, we are no longer enemies of God.
Rom.5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
  13. It redeemed us from the slavery of Satan and sin.
2 Pet. 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
  14. It saves us from the power of darkness. Col. 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
  15. It conquered death and he that had the power of death for us.
2 Tim.1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
Heb. 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
  16. It saves us from the fear of death.
Heb. 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
  17. It makes us children of God.
Jh.1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
  18. It delivers us from all the curses of the Law Gal. 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
  19. It makes us victorious.
Rev.12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
  20. It shows that there is nothing too great for God to give to us.
Rom.8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
As great as these benefits are, they are for those who repent of their sins and give their lives to Jesus (Jh.1:12). And these are the only people that will reach Heaven at last (Rev. 7:9-17).
