We Are Always Surrounded By Enemies. 1Pt. 5:8; Eph. 6:12.

One of the very important truths that we must not allow ourselves to forget is the fact that the world is not a playing ground but a battle field.
We are being constantly attacked by the forces of darkness and this will continue as long as we remain in the world.
The sources of most of the negative things that used to happen to us are traceable to these evil forces: negative thoughts, negative behaviors, negative occurrences etc.
Satan and his angels have no other business than to keep men in darkness and fight with all seriousness those who are already in the light.
If we truly are in the light, we can be sure that they are currently fighting us.
To deny this is to make ourselves victims and not overcomers. No one can truly overcome Satan unless he knows that Satan and his agents are currently fighting him.
Their number one reason for fighting those who are in the light is to bring them back to darkness. The number of people and weapons that they are using in fighting against the people that are in the light are almost uncountable.
It is the combination of Satan and his army that the Bible calls the gate of hell. Mt. 16:18.
They are the gate of hell because it is through them people go to spend their eternity in hell.
They are believers foes and are desperately looking for how to get believers back into darkness. The methods they employ in fighting the people of God are also uncountable. They may come in the day or in the dream. They may come directly or indirectly!
They may attack from the outward or from the inward. They may come like angels or like human beings. They may appear like enemies or like friends.
There is also a diversity of weapons in their possession. They may attack with sicknesses, strange thoughts, bad dreams, problems, misunderstanding, self condemnation, unnecessary sorrow, fear, anxiety etc.
They are such a wicked and desperate army that doesn’t easily give up after losing a battle.
A lot of things make it a clear fact that believers are always in the midst of such enemies in the world.
• The fact that the agents of our arch enemy Satan are so numerous, to the extent that he was able to allocate as many as 6000 of them to just one man. Mk. 5:1-9; Lk. 8:26-30.
• Jesus claim that He sends us as sheep in the midst of wolves. Mt. 10:16. These wolves are both physical and spiritual 1 Pt. 5:8; Mt. 7:15.
• The fact that the believers of old were always surrounded by enemies. Eph. 6:12; Ps. 86:14; Eze. 13:18; 1Pt. 5:8; Ps. 44:5; Lk. 10:17.
• The experiences of believers of today also prove this to be so: agents of Satan are always on hand to tempt a Christian wherever he may find himself under heaven: even inside the church, on the crusade ground. etc.
• The fact that the word of God instructs believers to fight always. 1Tim. 1:18; 6:12; Eph. 6:11.
If we always bear this in mind, we will not be living a careless life and it will therefore be difficult for the forces of darkness to overcome us.
